Keep Calm and Go For a Run...or a drink...or something like that.

I have been struggling for the past month with my running (as you can probably tell by my lack of witty posts and my decline in Twitter followers).  I've had some minor physical issues (cramps, tight IT band, tender knees), but the main problem has been my mind.  Basically, I don't have one anymore.  My 7 and 5 year old boys have ruined my brain.  They've taken out each individual brain cell and ran over if with their over-sized Tonka trucks and then picked it up and fed it to the cats.  My brain is broken.

I feel fat and out of shape

It's time to get it together!  I took an almost two week hiatus from running due to having the flu and then a terrible cold.  I'm still not 100%, but I'm good enough to get back into it.  I was supposed to do my 9 mile run yesterday, but I was far too hungover wasn't quite feeling it, so I opted to postpone it until Sunday.  This run was hard.  Mainly because it was my first run getting back into it.

Drinking > Running

Ugh...what a week.  Not a good week.  A very drunk week instead.  I've been dealing with a lot of personal things lately and this week it all really affected me. Monday: Supposed to swim.  Partner couldn't go.  Drank wine instead.

Bring on Week 4

It's Monday and the beginning of Week 4!  I'm excited about training again and feel very motivated.  This is likely due to my awesome 6 mile run last night! My long run is 11 miles this week.  I would, ideally, like to do this run outside and I'm going to try my hardest to!  Saturday's forecast is sunny and a high of +1!  I haven't been out on the trails yet this year, but I'm hoping that they are clear and dry. I am also hoping to participate in another writing challenge this week.  I really enjoyed writing last week!  Something I need to do more of for sure. My head is all over the place lately.  I'm not happy, but I'm not sad.  I feel numb, but content.  I have a feeling that my goals are taking over my mind.  This must be what it feels like to be so focussed on a goal that not much else matters...

Week 3 Wrap Up & Drink Up

This week has sucked.   Actually, things have sucked since about last Thursday when my computer finally died (hence no Drink Up! post on Saturday).  My computer is back and now so are my posts! This week :

I drank all the vodka.

I'm definitely needing some motivation this week.  It's Week 3 Day 1 and I'm already questioning my desire to complete this marathon.  I had given in to my inner alcoholic and found myself at the bottom of a vodka bottle last night (oh, fine...there was only 2 ounces left in it when I started, but still....).  I gorged on chocolate and banana bread batter, drank my Sweet Carolina's Iced Tea Vodka with Club Soda and went to bed depressed and lacking motive.   I woke up no better.   Ahhhh.....hopefully this will soon pass.  I should be grateful for this week.  It's the easiest one of them all....

Mind, you are an alcoholic.

Week 1 is done and therefore I should have reached all my goals, right? Well I feel like I should have.  Week 1 was good.  Week 1 was fairly easy.  I ate right, I trained right, and therefore I should have lost the 12 pounds that I want to lose and should be good to go for this marathon in May!   Ha!  If only is was that easy.  Now I'm on Week 2 and my mind is already slipping back into it's old ways...... 'Sure you can eat a chocolate bar every day, you're running 18 miles this week'........'Of course you can have a few glasses of red wine while you cook supper.  You won't be able to run until at least 8 anyways'......'You might as well get drunk after your run.  You've burned off all the calories already' GO AWAY MIND!  You are wrong.  And an alcoholic  You are a wrong alcoholic. I have to go and get my little 3 miler in before my mind takes over and I end up a slobbering mess trying to find the auto-...

I'm famous.

I'm famous!!!   Okay, I'm not.   BUT I'm much closer to becoming famous than I was before.   With the help of my good friend, Randa with The Bewitchin' Kitchen , I will be re-creating my blog design during the next couple of weeks!  The new blog design will allow you to

Pina Coladas and the pool.

Week 1 of marathon training is going well, but so far I've done more swimming than running.  It feels really good though!   On Monday I swam 30 lengths (25 meters), Tuesday I did my 3 mile run, and today I swam 40 lengths.  The best part of swimming is still the awesome stretching at the end of it all.  Tomorrow is a 5 mile run and then 8 miles on Saturday.  I'm a little worried about the 8 miles.  I guess I'll just take it slow and steady.  I'm already
