Pina Coladas and the pool.

Week 1 of marathon training is going well, but so far I've done more swimming than running.  It feels really good though!
On Monday I swam 30 lengths (25 meters), Tuesday I did my 3 mile run, and today I swam 40 lengths.  The best part of swimming is still the awesome stretching at the end of it all.  Tomorrow is a 5 mile run and then 8 miles on Saturday.  I'm a little worried about the 8 miles.  I guess I'll just take it slow and steady.  I'm already
wondering if I should be following Hal Higdon's Novice 1 program opposed to the Novice 2.  I guess time will tell....

I found myself VERY hungry today.  1900 calories hungry.  I usually consume about 1400 calories per day.  Now, I know that I'll need to consume more as my training progresses, I just didn't expect my body to want and need it so soon.  At least the majority of it was good calories (only a handful of chocolate covered popcorn).  My new favorite snack is Iogo Yogurt.  I'm in love with the Pineapple-Coconut-Banana.  I best not ever buy the big tub for I will eat it all in one sitting.  Guaranteed.  If you haven't tried this brand yet, do it!  It's amazing!  Tonnes of flavors too!

It tastes like this, only healthier and less drunk!

Feel the burn.

B is no longer for beer and I'm sad   I really should have thought this theme through a little bit more.  Words that start with B and are relative to my "commit to fit" challenge aren't the easiest to come by.  I've decided to go with " burn "  because I am already feeling it!! On Saturday I decided to terrorize exercise my core and upper body after my run.  DOMS set in late on Sunday and after an intense work out tonight, I dread laughing.    My commit to be fit challenge will include 3-4 strength training sessions per week in addition to my half marathon training program.  It's time to feel the burn !  Can you feel it?

So we did something fun!

So we did something super fun and scary last spring... we decided to move to our lake cabin full time !  Ahhh!  It's been very trying and very exciting and I think we're actually settled in out here.  Also, HI!  I know it's only been a short while since I posted last...errr...ok, it's been a year and a half, but priorities, right? So, yeah, downsizing...haha!  In 2 years, we've gone from 3800 square feet of living space to about... 750.  And, you know what? It's totally not all sunshine and rainbows, but it works!  Living at the lake and having all of these amazing trees around us is completely worth it.  The boys have settled into, yet, another new school and this school is the best one yet! Around the end of April last year, I came out to the cabin to clean up our holiday trailer so we could sell it.  I took a break, made a caesar , and sat on the front lawn with Duke in the small bit of sunshine that made its way through the ...

Good choices.

Happy Monday everyone!  I hope your week is a good one! We're on Letter G for the A-Z Challenge, and my commit to be fit post is about making good choices. Making good choices isn't always easy for me.  Mainly, because I'm usually really drunk and not thinking about what's best for me in the long run. You're probably thinking that I'm talking about making good diet choices and, of course, I am, but they aren't the only choices that need to be made when choosing to live a fit and healthy lifestyle.   Nutrition and diet choices are, actually, probably the easiest of all them all.
